Young Gold Fields leader joins gender diversity debate

One of the gold industry's up-and-coming leaders, Cassie O’Connell, works as Senior Human Resources Advisor at Gold Fields’ Agnew gold mine in Western Australia and will soon be making the case for a ’transformed system‘ to eliminate gender inequality in mining.  

Cassie will be one of the panellists at the Gold Industry Group's Women in Gold Great Debate this Friday night at The Perth Mint.

GIG awards WASMA diversity scholarship

The Gold Industry Group is thrilled to partner with the WA School of Mines Alumni to support diversity within the school and the wider industry.

Last night WA School of Mines Alumni President Bill Beament announced the recipient of the Gold Industry Group's Diversity Scholarship, Sarah Arnoldi, at their event with Women in Mining WA at Diggers and Dealers in Kalgoorlie.

Applications open for WA Mining Club scholarships


The WA Mining Club are offering seven $10,000 scholarships to WA university students studying a degree in a mining discipline. 

Students studying engineering, geology, metallurgy, environmental science, biology and similar technical disciplines are eligible to enter. Students are welcome to apply for more than one scholarship.

Mining Non-Executive Director and champion for diversity, Sharon Warburton, is the second woman to join the Gold Industry Group (GIG) Board as a Director, following the appointment of Gold Fields Australia Vice President of Legal and Compliance, Kelly Carter, to Vice Chairperson in November 2016.

Gold Fields provides $50k to launch regional Indigenous health program

Gold Fields Australia’s dedicated Foundation has today provided $50,000 to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation to fund the first stage of building a facial analysis database of Indigenous children’s faces from the Goldfields region.

Chairman of the Gold Fields Australia Foundation Alex Munt explained the importance of this program which will enable a significant number of medical conditions and diseases to be diagnosed through facial analysis.
