Gold Industry Group – Privacy Policy

GOLD INDUSTRY GROUP INC. ABN 39 106 144 592 (“Gold Industry Group”, “GIG”, “we”, “us”) is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (“APPs”) set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (“Act”). The Act can be found at this link and the APPs are set out in Schedule 1 to the Act.

This Privacy Policy governs how we deal with your personal information that we collect and handle about individuals who we interact with in person or through the Gold Industry Group website (“our Site”), via events, competitions, social media and other digital services. The Gold Industry Group owns and operates the website located at goldindustrygroup.com.au across desktop, mobile, tablet and apps and including the subdomains jobs.goldindustrygroup.com.au and education.goldindustrygroup.com.au.

By providing your personal information to us, you consent to the collection, use, transfer and disclosure of your information under the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Definitions

Where used in this Privacy Policy, the terms:

  • “We”, “us” and “our” refers to the Gold Industry Group Incorporated and its members.

  • “Employer/s” and “Company/ies” refers to members of the Gold Industry Group that post job ads on our Site to source potential applicants for job vacancies.

  • “Job Seeker/s” and “Candidate/s” refers to users who register on the Site with the intention of applying for job vacancies.

  • “Gold Jobs” refers to the part of the Gold Industry Group website which allows users to access information about, and apply for, jobs in the gold industry.

  • “Site” refers to Gold Industry Group’s website found at ‘goldindustrygroup.com.au’

  • “Personal Information” refers to any personal information provided to Gold Industry Group by users of the Site or other persons who deal with us.

  • “GIG” refers to Gold Industry Group Inc

  1. How we collect and use your information

    Personal Information is collected when you knowingly and voluntarily submit it to us.

    We may collect personal information during your interactions with us. The types of Personal Information we collect depends on how you interact with us.

    You can visit our websites without disclosing any Personal Information about yourself. Our system may record non-personal information, such as your server address, the date and time of your visit and any pages viewed. We only use this information for statistical reporting and website administration purposes.

    If you sign up for our eNewsletters and updates or make bookings for incursions, excursions, events or competitions, we collect Personal Information about you when you provide us with that information.

    The information you provide may include basic personal details such as your name, work address, mobile number and email address.

    When you provide Personal Information about someone else, you must have their consent to provide their personal information to us.

    We collect Personal Information in a number of ways, including:

    • When we receive bookings for incursions, excursions or events, we collect information at the time the booking is made.

    • Following incursions, excursions or events, we collect feedback through evaluation surveys.

    • When we collect information from persons who subscribe to our mailing lists to receive our newsletters and updates.

    • When we collect information from persons who sign up after completing our Heart of Gold Discovery Trail.

    • When we collect Personal Information about those who register an account or sign up for our newsletter on Gold Jobs.

    • When we collect information from persons who participate in our competitions or event activations.

    We may use your Personal Information in the following ways:

    • Where you have opted in, subscribed or registered, we will send you emails about our programs, events and other updates.

    • Where you have opted in, subscribed or registered, if you provide feedback, your quote and name may be shared on our digital platforms (with your prior written consent).

    • Where you have opted in, subscribed or registered, if you win a competition, your name may be shared on our digital platforms.

    Photographs and videos of people interacting with the GIG are collected only with the consent of the person being photographed or filmed, or their parent/guardian. The consent forms for photography and filming also collect information regarding the name of the person in the photograph or video.

    We will not collect sensitive information about you (such as personal information about your health, race, gender, political opinion etc.) without your specific consent or where permitted to do so by the Act.

  2. Collecting information on registered Users on Gold Jobs

    As part of registering an account on Gold Jobs, we collect Personal Information about registered users in order for them to take full advantage of Gold Jobs. To do this it is necessary for registered users to provide additional information such as job preferences and job seeker status to the Gold Industry Group.

    To become a registered user, you will need to create a Job Seeker account by submitting some Personal Information such as your name (for the purpose of a username) and email address. You may access your information at any time by logging in to your Job Seeker account and updating the job alerts you have previously saved on the Site. Gold Jobs may also use this information in order to customise the service we provide to you.

    If you want to opt-out from the collection and usage of information for targeting, you can do so by contacting the Gold Industry Group directly at info@goldindustrygroup.com.au.

  3. Storing resumes

    Gold Jobs site users applying for jobs are required to upload their resume to the application form prior to submission or to the Employer’s external webpage of choice when directed. Users may also attach an additional document such as a cover letter.

    All resumes and cover letters attached to the Gold Jobs’ application form are not stored by the Site or the Gold Industry Group and are provided directly to the Employer who posted the job ad.

  4. Communications

    The Gold Industry Group takes all reasonable steps to ensure the security of our system and to protect your information from misuse, interference and loss, as well as unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. In addition, our employees and the contractors who provide services related to our information systems are obliged to respect the confidentiality and privacy of any Personal Information held by our Site.

    Gold Jobs may provide you with selected information about job placement and career-related topics in email communications including in the Gold Industry Group’s email newsletter ‘Gold Job News’ and ‘Job Alerts’. Registered users may opt-out of receiving job alerts from Gold Jobs by logging into their Job Seeker account and deleting the alerts from within their dashboard.

    Candidates who have applied for any position on the Site should be aware that the Employer to whom their application is sent may also be holding their Personal Information and should users wish to access that information, a request should be made directly to those Employers.

    If you have signed up for our Education Program you will receive teacher newsletters on a quarterly basis and news updates and may be contacted via email or phone to provide updates.

    If you participated in an activation, survey or competition where your data is collected, you will receive relevant newsletters and communications.

    The GIG will send out newsletters, updates and information about events to those who have signed up, opted in or registered.

    Subscribed users may opt-out from receiving emails from the Gold Industry Group either by clicking ‘unsubscribe’ in the footer of any email received or by contacting the Gold Industry Group directly at info@goldindustrygroup.com.au.

  5. Your consent

    How do you get my consent?

    When you provide us with personal information to subscribe to our newsletters, book an incursion or excursion, attend an event, register an account on Gold Jobs or sign up once completing the Heart of Gold Australia app, you are consenting to us collecting and using your information in accordance with this document.

    You are not obliged to provide your Personal Information; however, a failure to provide your personal information could result in us being unable to provide you with our newsletters, updates, trail medallion or prize.

    If we ask for your Personal Information for a secondary reason, we will obtain your explicit consent to hold and use the information for that purpose.

    How do I withdraw my consent?

    If, after you opt-in, subscribe or register, you change your mind, you may withdraw your consent for us to contact you, or use or disclose your information, at any time, by contacting us at info@goldindustrygroup.com.au or mailing us at:

  6. Disclosure

    We may disclose your information to:

    • Third-party service providers for the purpose of enabling them to provide their services, including IT service providers, data storage, webhosting and server providers, marketing or advertising providers, and professional advisors;

    • courts, tribunals, regulatory authorities and law enforcement officers, as required by law, in connection with any actual or prospective legal proceedings, or in order to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights.

    It is unlikely that we will need to disclose any Personal Information to overseas recipients.

  7. Third-Party Services

    In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.

    Certain third-party service providers, such as email databases, have their own privacy policies with respect to the information we are required to provide to them.     For these providers, we recommend that you read the privacy policies so you can understand the manner in which your personal information will be handled by these providers.

  8. Security and storage

    To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.

    Except if your information is required to be retained by law, we will hold your information for as long as we require it, or until you notify us you no longer wish for us to do so.

  9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

    We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the Site. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by the Site that it has been updated so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it.

    Any requests to access, correct, amend or delete any personal information can be made by contacting us at the mailing or email address set out below.

    We will take all reasonable steps to correct any information we hold so as to ensure that it is accurate, up-to-date and complete.

    If you have questions about our Privacy Policy, or if you believe we have breached the APPs or the Act), you may register a query or complaint by contacting us by any of the following methods:

    We will assess all complaints by reference to the relevant legislation and, if necessary, by obtaining independent legal advice. We will review your complaint and respond to any concerns promptly, generally within fourteen (14) working days of receipt of the complaint.
