Sponsorship partner KCGM is making final preparations ahead of this year’s St Barbara’s Parade in Kalgoorlie-Boulder on Sunday 2 December, with their iconic 793C haul truck once again providing an awe-inspiring finale to the Parade as it travels down Hannan Street.

Cecile Thaxter, KCGM General Manager, said this year there will be a KCGM Christmas Angel at the front of the truck.

“Tamera Sharp, External Relations Officer has been chosen to ride as the Christmas Angel this year. Tamera, who has been at KCGM since 2010, has coordinated KCGM’s participation in the parade for seven years and is a valued member of our Emergency Response Team.

“Lisa Hodder, who commenced at KCGM as a Trainee Truck Operator in 2000, has been chosen to drive the truck after being recognised for her length of service and dedication to KCGM over the last 18 years,” said Ms Thaxter.

Additional KCGM staff will also be volunteering at the Parade, helping to decorate the truck and other machinery and acting as marshals along the parade route.

Accompanying the Caterpillar 793C haul truck this year will also be a Caterpillar 992K loader, a Force Water Cart, an underground Atlas Copco MT6020 truck, and a selection of maintenance vehicles. The 793C haul truck has a 2,300 horsepower engine, 225 tonne load capacity, and measures 13.5 meters in height.

The 793C haul truck will be available to view at the top of Hannan Street for an hour before the Parade begins. For a gold coin donation members of the public can also climb on board for a closer look, with all the proceeds going to a local community group.

The St Barbara’s Parade is a free event open to the public.
