Last Friday 23 netball officials and umpires got the opportunity to take part in a tour of the Perth Mint as part of the Gold Industry Group’s ongoing joint partnership with Netball WA.

The tour was a part of Netball’s Annual State Cup Competition where the governing body provides the opportunity for identified players, coaches and umpires in the Fever In Time (FIT) Programs to compete against each other.

The State Cup sits within the NWA Competition Pathway and is one of the selection points for athletes, umpires and coaches into the next level of programs and pathways.

During the tour, participants began with an informative introductory session that provided them with insights into the rich history of the Perth Mint and its pivotal role in shaping Western Australia's history.

This session took place as the officials were guided through the various sections of the facility which includes the world’s largest gold coin.

The tour's pinnacle moment revolved around a captivating live demonstration where visitors had the privilege of witnessing the mesmerising process of gold being poured to form a Gold Bar.

Additionally, each official had the unique opportunity to determine their own value in terms of weight in gold, adding a personalised and memorable touch to the tour experience.

The Perth Mint is a main netball funding partner of the Gold Industry Group netball partnership which renewed its commitment last year, extending the agreement through to 2024. This renewal coincides with Netball WA's centenary year, marking a significant milestone in their partnership journey, which commenced in 2019.
