Rangers Goal Shooter Georgia Pitt has been crowned the 2023 Jill McIntosh Medallist for the best and fairness in the Gold Industry Group WA Netball League.

The announcement was made on Friday the 11th of August at the annual Jill McIntosh Awards Night hosted by Netball WA at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre to celebrate the conclusion of the 2023 WA netball season.

Pitt’s outstanding performances during the season secured her first Jill McIntosh medal by one vote over West Coast Warrior Kellie Baker. Pitt led the count from start to finish and was the competition’s leading goal shooter with 460 goals at 89 percent across 14 matches.

Both Gold Industry Group (GIG) and its member's commitment to Netball WA have been instrumental to its success and growth in the fourth year of partnership. GIG CEO, Kristy Reilly presented several awards throughout the night. GIG also presented the Heart of Gold Club Person of the Year Award to recognise one member from each club for their commitment to club and community involvement.

Six athletes were also inducted into the Netball WA Court of Champions with Aileen Travers, Ingrid Huisken, Diane Jackson, Jessica Shynn, Susan Fuhrmann and Kate Beveridge all chosen for their contribution to Netball in Western Australia.

East Freo Shark Ava Robson also went on to win the 20/U GIG WANL Best and Fairest Award for the second season in a row.

As part of the ongoing partnership between Netball WA and Gold Industry Group representatives from all Netball funding members were in attendance at the awards night to show their support for the competition.
