CSIRO uncovers innovative approach to gold exploration

Research by Australia’s national science agency CSIRO, has produced a new understanding of mineralisation in the Yilgarn Province in Western Australia, supported by the Western Australian government through the Minerals Research Institute of WA.

Bradford named Honorary Doctor for support of mining education

IGO Limited’s MD and CEO Peter Bradford, has been named an Honorary Doctor of Curtin University for his distinguished services as an alumnus, through outstanding leadership, advocacy and philanthropic support of mining education.

Mr Bradford graduated from Curtin’s Western Australian School of Mines in 1978 and connects his career success in the resources industry to his studies at the University.

REQ Report: The future looks bright for gold

Australia’s gold exports are forecast to hit a record high of AUD $25 billion in 2019-20 according to the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science’s September edition of Resources and Energy Quarterly (REQ).

The September REQ shows Australia remains the world’s second largest producer of gold, with production increasing by 6.3% in FY 2018–19 to 321 tonnes, equating to 9% of the world’s total supply in 2018.

At last month's luncheon, WA Mining Club attendees were treated to an update on the Gruyere Gold Project with Gold Fields Australia and Gold Road Resources.

First discovered in 2013, the Gruyere Gold Project site lies 25 kilometres north-east of Gold Road Resources’ original Yamarna belt discovery, and is predicted to be a low-cost, long-life project over the next 13 years – far exceeding the shelf life of most existing Australian mine sites.
