Australia’s biggest new gold mine, Gruyere, reached a major milestone over the weekend pouring its first gold bar.

Located east of Laverton in Western Australia, the Gruyere Gold Project is a joint venture between Gold Road Resources and Gold Fields, which is expected to operate for the next 12 years and create 350 full time jobs.

The Gold Industry Group (GIG)’s recent mental health tour with charity LIVIN is being hailed a success after more than 40 stigma breaking workshops were delivered across Australia reaching more than 1,200 gold industry workers, locals and students.

As a result of the resounding positive feedback from attendees, the tour has been extended with more workshops to be delivered at gold mine sites in June and a school tour is being explored for 2020.

Supported by Gold Road Resources, the recent Girls for Glory clinic at NIB Stadium saw 120 girls seize the opportunity to experience a training session alongside Perth Glory’s Westfield W-League stars.

The girls, aged between 5 and 12 years took to the turf with current Matilda superstars Sam Kerr and Eliza Campbell, and American quartet Katie Naughton, Alyssa Mautz, Nikki Stanton and Rachel Hill to develop their skills.

At last month's luncheon, WA Mining Club attendees were treated to an update on the Gruyere Gold Project with Gold Fields Australia and Gold Road Resources.

First discovered in 2013, the Gruyere Gold Project site lies 25 kilometres north-east of Gold Road Resources’ original Yamarna belt discovery, and is predicted to be a low-cost, long-life project over the next 13 years – far exceeding the shelf life of most existing Australian mine sites.

The Gold Industry Group (GIG) goes from strength to strength welcoming AngloGold Ashanti Australia’s Vice President for Corporate Affairs, Community and Human Resources, Andrea Maxey and Gold Road Resources’ General Manager for Capability and Culture, Stuart Jenner, to its Board of Directors.
