The Gold Industry Group and Deloitte will hold their annual breakfast event at Diggers & Dealers on 13 October, where industry leaders will share their insights on the developments in decarbonisation led by Australia’s mining sector.

This year’s speakers include Northern Star Resources Non-Executive Director Mary Hackett, IGO Head of Corporate Affairs and Company Secretary Joanne McDonald, Deloitte Director Sustainability and Climate Change Services Michael Wood, and Pilbara Minerals Limited Chief Operations Officer Dale Henderson.

IGO Limited’s MD and CEO Peter Bradford, has been named an Honorary Doctor of Curtin University for his distinguished services as an alumnus, through outstanding leadership, advocacy and philanthropic support of mining education.

As Gold Partner, Independence Group will join other businesses and individuals across Perth for the Up All Night marathon next month, raising funds and awareness for Ronald McDonald House Charities Western Australia.

The 42 km walk will commence at 9pm on Saturday 30 November and end at 8am on Sunday 1 December, in solidarity of those families with sick children who experience similar hardship.

The 13th Big Walk event saw 2,500 participants, spectators and volunteers came together for 6 km walk alongside the Swan River, starting and finishing in Burswood Park, with funds raised helping to change the lives of many Western Australian children, adolescents and their families.

More than 40 Independence Group (IGO) employees became OzHarvest volunteers, assisting the for-impact organisation in its mission to ‘Nourish Our Country’ by helping to deliver over 110 tonnes of food to people in need across Western Australia during November.

Over four weeks IGO volunteers assisted the OzHarvest WA van operators to pick-up and drop-off an incredible 111,549 kilograms of surplus produce, which was then delivered to 80 charitable agencies across Perth and the greater metropolitan area.

Macmahon Holdings, AngloGold Ashanti Australia, Independance Group NL and Carey Mining celebrated the milestone of eight young Aboriginal trainees at the Tropicana Gold Mine in November.

In a formal ceremony at the Tropicana site, the trainees were each presented with certificates and traineeship offers after successfully completing the eight week Get Into Mining training programme.
