Gold Industry Groups members Northern Star Resources Limited, Gold Road Resources, Ramelius Resources, Evolution Mining and Saracen Mineral Holdings have joined groundbreaking research in translating science to mineral exploration, supporting the role of Australia's resources in sustainable global development.
Research by Australia’s national science agency CSIRO, has produced a new understanding of mineralisation in the Yilgarn Province in Western Australia, supported by the Western Australian government through the Minerals Research Institute of WA.
Development of a rapid cancer test at the University of Queensland (UQ) using gold nanoparticles, will be aided by a $300,000 donation from Australian gold mining company Evolution Mining.
The philanthropic funding will help researchers at UQ’s Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, whilst the new blood test could give oncologists an early and more accurate prognosis.
The Gold Industry Group has released results from a study conducted by Deloitte Access Economics into the gold industry, revealing its significant contribution to Australia’s history, economic development and social advancement.
“From the 1850s, the demand for gold has helped grow, sustain and define Australia,” said Deloitte Access Economics Partner Matt Judkins.
