Since signing their landmark deal, Football West has announced Gold Fields as their first official Regional Football Program partner, with the increased support set to bolster Football West’s program deliverables throughout the Goldfields region of Western Australia.

Gold Fields is already the name sponsor of all of Football West’s State Teams, however the expansion of the partnership will see growth in football clinics, school visits, coaching and referee courses as well as development and inclusion programs across regional WA.

Football West Chief Executive Officer James Curtis said Gold Fields was a highly valued partner of Football West and they were delighted to strengthen ties with the gold mining company.

“Football West serves all of Western Australia and this partnership means we can work with more of the football community in regional areas.

“Our goal is to have a Development Officer in every region in WA to promote and grow the sport. Through the support of Gold Fields and coinciding with other football initiatives in the Kimberley and Pilbara we will achieve this goal in 2019,” Mr Curtis said.

As a first step, Football West is employing a Regional Development Officer for the Goldfields region of Western Australia.

Gold Fields Executive Vice President Australasia, Stuart Mathews said the company fully supported Football West’s blueprint for growth, including having a regional development model in place across the State.

“This emphasis on regional development for all levels of the game is aligned with Gold Fields’ goal to promote strong communities where we operate. Providing great sporting options for families and stakeholders is an important part of this.

“Our additional sponsorship targets the regions and will ensure that the Goldfields region in particular is ably supported by a full-time Development Officer, working with the 2500+ current football participants in the Goldfields, and providing a catalyst for further development and participation in the sport.

“Gold Fields is very pleased to see that by significantly increasing its support for Football West, we are also promoting our shared values of diversity and inclusion, that are so important on both our sports fields and our workplaces,” said Mr Mathews.
