The Gold Industry Group (GIG) proudly backed the sixth annual Netball WA Multicultural Carnival at the Gold Netball Centre on Friday 28 August, with 97 teams competing.
The gold photo booth was a hit, with players vying for a fun snap before contributing to the #heartofgold world map that showcased their origins. The map revealed more than 40 different nationalities represented on the day.
The one-day tournament celebrates players from a wide range of ethnicities and fosters their netball skills in a fun and supportive environment. The carnival caters for all skill levels and experience, boasting 15 divisions, with its aim to have fun, make friends and bridge cultural barriers.
Netball WA General Manager of Community Netball Liz Booth said it was a fantastic day.
“In its short history, the Multicultural Carnival has grown to reflect the ethnically diverse state of WA, and we are incredibly proud to host the many cultures of our community.
“2020 saw the introduction of a Secondary Boys division which was just fantastic. It is great to grow the inclusivity of this carnival and our sport by giving other participants the opportunity to play and be part of a wider community,” said Ms Booth.
Congratulations to the most successful schools of the day, Belridge Secondary College and Ellenbrook Secondary College.
The GIG are proud to support the event for a second year running, thanks to gold members Gold Fields, Northern Star Resources Limited, Saracen Mineral Holdings, Newcrest Mining, St Barbara Limited, Newmont, AngloGold Ashanti Australia, Gold Road Resources, Ramelius Resources and The Perth Mint.
