July 12, 2023
by Gold Industry Group

West Coast Fever Goal Shooter Jhaniele Fowler has etched her name in the history books once again, claiming a remarkable fifth Stacey Marinkovich Medal as the Club's Most Valuable Player.

The announcement was made at the West Coast Fever’s awards night held at Fraser’s restaurant which was attended by Gold Industry Group alongside their major netball members to celebrate the 2023 Super Netball season.

Fowler's outstanding performance throughout the season earned her an impressive tally of 38 votes, putting her just three votes ahead of her teammate and club captain, Courtney Bruce, who was a formidable contender in her own right. The Stacey Marinkovich Medal, named after the esteemed coach and former Australian netball player, is a testament to Fowler's consistent excellence and her pivotal role in the team's success.

Both Gold Industry Groups and its member’s commitment to the West Coast Fever and Netball WA have been instrumental in the success of the club within the club in the fourth year of partnership.

In addition to securing the Stacey Marinkovich Medal, Fowler also received the Players' Player of the Year Award, a prestigious accolade voted on by her teammates. This recognition from her peers further emphasizes her significant impact on the team and her ability to inspire and uplift those around her.

The Coach's Award was presented to Sunday Aryang, an exceptional defender known for her unwavering commitment and outstanding performance throughout the season. Aryang's dedication to the sport and her relentless pursuit of excellence have made her a crucial asset to the team's defence strategy.

Presented by Perth Mint’s General Manager of Commercial Development Cameron Alexander the People's Choice Award was awarded to Verity Simmons. The honour was a testament to her captivating presence on the court and her ability to connect with the Green Army—the passionate fan base of the West Coast Fever. Simmons' infectious energy and skilful gameplay have endeared her to supporters and made her a beloved figure within the club.

Furthermore, the Club Person of the Year Award was bestowed upon West Coast Fever Talent Coach, Guy Keane, in recognition of his dedication to the club after moving from Victoria to begin the role this season. Keane's exceptional work ethic and willingness to go above and beyond for his colleagues and players have earned him the respect and admiration of the entire organisation.

As the evening came to a close, the West Coast Fever and the Gold Industry Group celebrated not only Jhaniele Fowler's remarkable achievement but also the collective accomplishments of the entire 2023 Super Netball season.
