Delivery of the Gold Industry Group's (GIG) gold sessions and Gold Resources Kits as part of its National Gold Education Program will be postponed until Term 3 2020 in response to the national situation regarding novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19), ensuring the safety of both industry facilitators and participating schools across Australia.

Developed in conjunction with Earth Science WA (ESWA), the Program features free, dynamic, one-hour gold sessions delivered by passionate gold industry professionals to Upper Primary (Years 4-6) and Lower Secondary (Years 7-10) classes.

Following advice from the Australian Government regarding COVID-19, the Program's gold sessions requested between 17 March - 3 July 2020 will be postponed until further notice. This decision is based is based on the evolving challenges due to COVID-19 and to ensure the safety of industry workers delivering the gold sessions as well as participating students and educators.

The Program's complimentary Gold Resources Kits are still available to order, however delivery has been postponed until school terms resume as normal.

The unique Kits feature real gold and rock samples from Victorian and Western Australian gold mines, and provide teachers with a variety of lesson plans linked to the Australian Curriculum, along with fun and engaging activities that incorporate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) learning to excite Primary and Secondary students about Australia’s diverse gold sector.
